Newport Road Murder - 45-year-old Derrick Edgerson Kills his victim then sits & waits for police to arrive.

On Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 9:07 AM, deputies from the Hemet Station responded to a residence in the 40500 block of Newport Road for a report of a shooting on a large property. Deputies arrived and located a deceased adult male. The decedent’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification to the family.
During the investigation, the suspect was identified as 45-year-old Derrick Edgerson. The suspect was arrested and booked into custody for homicide. The investigation is ongoing, and there are no additional details for release at this time.

Witness stated that when police arrived the killer sat and waited for police to arrive and he told them he is the one who killed the victim. Edgerson was quickly arrested and taken into custody.
Neighbors stated they heard 5 to 6 gunshots and all went quiet and did not expect anything due to they stated that people always are shooting in this area and thought nothing about the shots until police arrived.
