Hemet man arrested for attempted murder of a minor

20 year-old Michael Ahmed of Perris.[/caption] ■ Chronicle News Staff A Hemet man was arrested in regards to a shooting that involved two minors. On Sunday, Mar. 17, Hemet Police and Fire personnel responded to the area of Sanderson Avenue and Mustang Way regarding reports of a shooting that occurred inside the Willowalk Community. When officials arrived on the scene, two juvenile victims were located - one of which had sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The injured victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and later released to a parent/guardian. Hemet Police quickly conducted an investigation which then led to the arrests of 18 year-old Devion Washington of Hemet and 20 year-old Michael Ahmed of Perris. The investigation is still ongoing and law enforcement believes the shooting could be related to another shooting on Mar. 12, which occurred in the same area. According to a search of the Riverside County Sheriff’s website, Washington was charged with attempted murder, use of a firearm enhancement, robbery, and conspiracy to commit a crime. He is currently being held at Larry D. Smith Correctional with bail set at $1,050,000. Ahmed was charged with attempted murder as well. He was detained at Larry D. Smith Correction, but was released on Mar. 23. He is currently out on bail of $10,000. There is no further information being released at this time.
