Hemet Woman’s Club joins forces to support Pinwheels for Prevention Project

The Pinwheel Project educates about child abuse. Pinwheel gardens will be on display at local schools.[/caption] ■ Michele Ryneal / Contributed April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, but this year the Hemet Woman’s Club members are getting a head start in educating the children, teachers and parents of Hemet about child abuse. The club believes that we need more than awareness to make a difference. We need action! The Hemet Woman’s Club sponsored, for the third year, the Pinwheels for Prevention Project on March 21, in cooperation with the principal and staff at Diamond Valley Middle School, Temecula Valley Woman’s Club and several local businesses. The children at the Diamond Valley Middle School heard a presentation by their school principal, Mr. Robert Dominguez, and then constructed paper pinwheels, which is the symbol and reminder of a happy childhood that we all want for children. The Prevent Child Abuse website is an excellent resource and now offers a “Parenting Tip of the Week” that the club feels can be a valuable tool for all parents. http://preventchildabuse.org/reso…/pinwheels-for-prevention/ The Pinwheel Garden will be displayed at Diamond Valley Middle School on Friday, March 31 for its annual Spring Fling event. The club is also assisting the Winchester Woman’s Club in the same project on Tuesday, March 28th and the pinwheels will be on display at the Winchester Elementary School on that day.
